Weekly Classics: Barry Manilow: Can't Smile...

This week's classic is an absolute, undeniable, incontestable track from the brilliant Barry Manilow. It was actually my father who brought about my knowledge of Manilow (refering to himself as a loyal Barry Fanilow), but 'Can't Smile Without You' has also appeared in many films, namely 'Four Weddings and a Funeral', 'Hellboy II: The Golden Army', and 'Starsky & Hutch'. Manilow's recording is probably the most well known version, released on 'Even Now' in 1977, however the original track was recorded by The Carpenters a year earlier, on their album 'A Kind of Hush'. Either way, Barry Manilow's effort remains firmly lodged in my heart as my favourite translation of this timeless classic!
